HIBM is caused by problems on an enzyme known as [[http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/dispomim.cgi?id=603824 | GNE]].  Developing therapies for enzyme related muscle diseases have been historically less difficult that muscle wasting diseases caused by large structural proteins.  Thus, we are hopeful that therapy can be developed in the near future.
